minimalistic journey

My name is Amanda. I'm an 19 year old girl from Norway. Here I will blog about my life as I try to lead a more minimalistic lifestyle. I will also reblog pictures, quotes etc that inspires me.

Live to love, love to be absolutely free. So simple…

The sky is the limit

And I just wanna flow
Free as a spirit on a journey of hope
Cut the strings and let me go
I’m weightless, I’m weightless

Millions of balloons heading to the ground
Weight of the world tries to hold us down
Cut the strings and let me go
I’m weightless, I’m weightless,
I’m weightless, I’m weightless…

All the things I held in my fist
If I don’t let go, I don’t exist
They’ve become the things that define me
How I look and the things to buy me
That’s not important anymore
I feel me rising off the floor
Light as a feather, I’m carefree
I’m weightless…

Yoga and minimalism

I started practicing yoga at home a few weeks back, and I already notice a difference. I’m more flexible after doing it for these last couple of weeks, but the biggest difference is that I’m more aware of my posture and my breath. Sometimes when I sit and read for school or sit on the computer I’ll draw attention to my posture and my breath and notice that I’m not sitting with a good posture and not breathing evenly and deeply. And it’s really relaxing to become aware of that and “fix” it. I do yoga before bed on most days because it makes me feel relaxed and sleepy ( I do this routine before bed). It’s really practicing yoga that drew my mind once again to minimalism. I have not been so active on this blog in a while, but after I started practicing yoga, and focused on poses, breathing and awareness, minimalism came to mind. I think I’m really on to something with yoga, I think it’s really good for me, and that yoga and a rekindled focus on minimalism will bring me to a good place.

Yesterday I emptied my bookshelf, deks and nightstand and did some cleaning, and I got some decluttering out of it in addition. I organized my school books and some papers I have to keep and tossed the ones I don’t and also got rid of some other clutter that I realized I didn’t need but had not been paying attention to it before I saw it in front of me. My next decluttering project wil be my clothes, I really think I need a decluttering session in my closet. So I will do that in the next couple of days.

I have also become more fond of tea lately (although I only have green tea available as of right now). I think I might check out some other types/flavours in the healthstore next time I’m there.

Be able to walk away

If you know that there’s almost nothing you can’t walk away from, you can save yourself tons of money. Years of time. Mountains of headaches and heartaches. Boatloads of suffering.

You don’t need to walk away from everything, but you should know that you can. And when the cost of the deal is too great, too dear … walk away.

I really love music videos like this, minimalistic and simple. The vulnerability really shows, and there isn’t anything flashy that distracts us from the message of the song. Another minimalistic music video I really like is for a song called “Mest Ondt” by Burhan G & Medina (Danish song). Will soon write about moving away from home and things relating to that, seeing as I have to move because I got accepted into an University College (the one I had as nr 1 on my application).
